This whole plotline could be disturbing to little kids, so I don’t recommend this manga for them. Later a murderer named Scar puts Nina out of her misery. He asks Ed and Al if they have heard of the philosophers stone. Ling is looking for immortality and has come to research alchemy in Amestris. Nina begs for Edward and Shou in a raspy voice. Ling Yao is a Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood character who comes into the show by Al finding him fainted from hunger in Dublith. The following scene when Ed and Al find Nina chimera is quite disturbing. And it’s also revealed that Shou made a combo of his wife and an animal. Under pressure, he creates a combo of Nina and Alexander. Shou is on a deadline to show the government a Chimera (human/animal combo). His wife “left” him, and his daughter Nina stays with him. In an effort to bring their mother back to life, Ed loses an arm and a leg and Alphonse his whole body. The story follows Edward and Alphonse Elric, two young alchemists who commit the ultimate taboo in alchemy: human transmutation. SPOILER ALERT: If you don’t know the full crux of the situation, basically Shou Tucker is an alchemist who is working on a way to generate combinations of humans and animals. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is the second anime series based on Hiromu Arakawa's manga Fullmetal Alchemist. It has gone down in history as one of the saddest scenes in anime/manga EVER, and it is quite disturbing to think that a father would do this to his child. My main concern for young kids reading this series is the Nina Tucker reveal. It can get intense-not as much as Demon Slayer, but more than Naruto. CSM’s assessment of violence is pretty accurate. It probably WILL make your kids beg you to buy them the next volume, as Arakawa is excellent at generating cliffhangers. It also has a bunch of strong female characters. It’s an incredible blend of humor, action and philosophy. I have not watched the show, I have read the manga.
